Its 2018! How did that happen?!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

2017 took us on an array of adventures around the country to Yorkshire, Northumberland, Campbeltown & Nairn to name just a few. Lots of lovely weddings and a few brilliant tipi parties in clients back gardens. We also gained another school leavers gig for George Watson’s College in June which was a roaring success.

Looking forward to 2018 we have more gigs south of the border for our new found fans in Yorkshire and Northumberland plus some more further afield in Devon as well as playing our usual haunts all around Scotland. This year’s diary has more local gigs for us in Edinburgh than usual which is always a nice treat. June is packed out as always with a mix of weddings and school leaver’s dances, which are some of our most favourite gigs to play. As always we’ll be using the down time of Jan & Feb to add new songs to our repertoire and rehearse them up in time for the coming wedding season.

Hope to see some of you along the way!

All the best,

TJGB

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all our clients and fellow suppliers! 2015 was a great year for us with lots of lovely gigs around the country travelled to in our trusty van wagon. Looking forward to getting back on the road this summer!

We are very excited about what 2016 holds for us and with wedding season just around the corner we are preparing to head into rehearsals where we will work on some new material to add into the set. We’re really looking forward to getting a jam of all our new tune ideas! Prepare for disco. Lots of disco!

Up and coming events include the Edinburgh Wedding Fair at The Corn Exchange on the 5th & 6th of March where we’ll be in our usual spot in the central corridor at stand 40. We’ll have songs to listen to, live videos of us at wedding gigs to watch, set lists to view and Jenni on hand to chat and answer any questions you may have. We’ll also be running 10% off all bookings made through the fair for all you bargain hunters!

June is the month of school leavers dances and we are lucky enough to be playing two local mid-week gigs for the pupils of George Heriots and George Watsons on their party nights to celebrate working so hard. Its always a real pleasure playing for the kids and is up there in our favourite gigs list!

We’re heavily booked right up to November where we’ll take a few weeks off before the madness of Xmas residencies start. Did I just mention Xmas in February?? Time to get back to focusing on the impending wedding season me thinks!

HAPPY PLANNING LOVEBIRDS xxx

Another successful wedding season finished!

We have officially come to the end of wedding season 2015 and here at TJGB HQ we are reflecting on another year of wonderful weddings. Among some of our regular castles that we love playing we’ve also had some lovely rustic weddings in various barns and tipis around Scotland. Vintage style is still leading the way at the moment amongst our clients and we have to agree – its sets the scene for a bonnie celebration.

The Edinburgh Wedding Fair was another huge success and where we met lots of lovely new clients and fellow suppliers. Look out for us at the next show on the 5th & 6th March 2016.

Looking forward to our 2016 bookings and along with some special weddings we have some lovely new gigs in the diary. One of which came from playing the George Herriot leavers ball, which we’ve played at for the past 3 years in a row. We’re chuffed to bits that we have now been booked for the George Watsons leaver’s ball as well. We really love playing for the kids on their big night and the dance floor is always full to bursting from the word go, making it our favourite gig of the year. And now we get to do it twice, which is even better.

We’ve also got news of a wonderful newly renovated venue in East Lothian called Borthwick Castle. We are booked for a private party there in December for the owners of the castle and were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the place before the official launch in October. As someone who spends lots of time in castles and venues I can honestly say that this one is truly beautiful. If you are still searching for the perfect venue I would highly recommend a visit here. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Signing off now but from all of us here at TJGB HQ we hope you all have a wonderful festive season! See you in the New Year!

Hello Happy Couples! It’s been an exciting winter for us all at TJGB HQ with mini band members being born, gigs down south & wedding fairs but we’re back on track for a busy wedding season and can’t wait to see you all.

January saw us down in Gloucestershire for a beautiful winter wedding in Berkeley Castle. The castle itself is one of the nicest venues we’ve played and the crowd had some of the best ceilidh dancers we’ve seen in a while! Here’s a pic from the stage of a huge Dashing White Sergeant.

Dashing White Sergeant at Berkeley Castle

March kept us local in two of our most loved locations, Houston House and The Byre at Inchyra. We were also really pleased to see some of our favourite venues that we are lucky enough to play regularly featured in a recent on-line article. The review showed some of the cool & quirky places in Scotland to get married and really brought home how lucky we are to have such great venues on our doorstep and also how lucky we are that we get to play at them! Here’s a link the article.

Now we find ourselves in full swing of 2015 wedding season so we’ll sign off by saying happy planning to all our lovely couples that are tying the knot this summer. We’ll see you at the party!

Perfect Venue?

I’ve been thinking…

What was once considered unusual for a wedding venue, old barns on family farms and yurts that haven’t seen the light of day since Glasto in 1968 are now well travelled on the map of desired wedding venues. Now its hot air balloons & deep sea diving with sharks that’s considered slightly unusual. Personally, I still love an old rickety barn in a field wrapped within an inch of its life in ivy and wild flowers – by hey, I’m a sixties chick trapped with an eighties birthday. Every year the band & I travel the length of the country to play at weddings and are always pleasantly surprised at peoples choices. Spooky Gothic castles, giant tipi’s, old church ruins within an open marquee, circus big tops – you name it we’ve played it! After reading this wee feature in The Guardian recently we’re curious to know, where have you chosen to celebrate your nuptials and what’s the strangest place you have had the pleasure to attend?!

Summer loving!

Hello!

It’s been a busy start to the 2014 wedding season for us with beautiful weddings all over the country. This year will see us travelling as far as Gloucestershire and Chester!

We’ve got a few bits and pieces coming up that may be of interest to all you love birds out there. Firstly we have a cheeky wee deal for all our Scottish Wedding Directory readers so be sure to have a nosy in the next issue of the mag to get your share. We are also super excited to be back at the Edinburgh Wedding Fair in the Corn Exchange in November. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with fellow suppliers and clients old & new. Do come and say hello if you are passing.

Happy planning!

Spring Has Sprung!

The sun is shining here at TJGB HQ and we are super excited about the up and coming wedding season. We’ve been in the studio rehearsing up a load of new tunes and we can’t wait to play them live for all our clients. As always, we’ve made sure there are a few surprises in there as well to keep you on your toes!

At the beginning of March we had another successful weekend at the Edinburgh Wedding Fair in The Corn Exchange where we met lots of blushing brides and fellow wedding suppliers. We’ll be back there in November for some more of the same so do mark it in your diary. We reckon it’s one of the best around.

Keep an eye out for us in the next issue of the Scottish Wedding Directory which hits the stands in April! We’ll have a slightly bigger advert in the music section as well as a wee treat for all SWD readers who book with us, so keep your eyes peeled!

Signing off now and back to rehearsals we go but before we do we’d like to say how much we’re looking forward to working yet another busy summer wedding season and would like to thank all our clients for ensuring we stay one of the busiest wedding bands in Scotland. You’re all lovely :-)

Some new things from us!

Hello!

February so far has mainly involved us with our heads down working on our new online adverts making sure they are nice and shiny for going live! We’ve also been busy playing some lovely weddings and taking bookings for the rest of 2014 & into 2015.

Now back to our new adverts! We’ve added a cheeky wee online pop-up ad to our usual one with the Scottish Wedding Directory. Make sure you keep an eye out for us popping up onto your screens while your having a browse! And…

We’re super excited to have joined forces with The Vintage Wedding Collection online. These guys showcase the very best in suppliers for a vintage inspired wedding. From old VWs as wedding cars to beautiful vintage wedding gowns, these guys have got it covered! And with our love of all things  retro we thought we’d jump on the band wagon too. This week, as we’re new kids on the block they’ve put us in the spotlight on their latest news section. Take a peek!

INTRODUCING THE JENNI GIBB BAND AT THE VINTAGE WEDDING COLLECTION

Finally, we’re gearing up for the next Edinburgh Wedding Fair at The Edinburgh Corn Exchange on the 1st & 2nd of March. Do pop by and say hello if your passing!

Hopefully see you along the way somewhere!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!

January means two things to us all in TJGB HQ. Firstly, the new Scottish Wedding Directory has just landed on our desk and  looks amazing! As always we have an ad in the music section of the magazine for those of you who fancy a nosy. Secondly, January is the time when we get our thinking caps on to come up with some new exciting material for our 2014 summer season. It’s always loads of fun choosing new tunes for our set list and even more so when we those ideas get put in to action at rehearsals in February. So, what would you love to hear at a wedding reception this year? Answers on a postcard please 😉

In March we’ll be back at the Edinburgh Wedding Fayre at The Corn Exchange. We had a lovely weekend there back in November and met loads of new clients and fellow suppliers so we’re very much looking forward to being back there on the 2nd & 3rd of March. Do come and say hello if you’re passing our stand!

Now you’re all up to date on our latest news we’d best be getting back to the mound of emails from all you love birds that got engaged over xmas & new year. Whoever said romance was dead?! Its alive & kicking from where I’m standing!

And so it is Christmas….

Hello folks! Apologies for the radio silence! Since the launch of the website and the Edinburgh Wedding Show in November we’ve been super busy taking new bookings, meeting new clients and choosing new material for our 2014 playlist. A huge thank you to everyone who’s been in touch to compliment the new website – we’re glad you like it as much as we do!

This week Christmas has definitely arrived here in TJGB HQ! We have our beautifully tacky fibre optic tree up, tinsel draped over every spare space and the annual CD from our pal DJ Dolphin Boy ‘A Christmas Dolphin 2013’ playing softly in the background. A perfect setting whilst we tie up some final loose ends and prepare for a much needed break over the next few days.

So on that note – MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!
